17-4 PH, also known as Type 630, UNS S17400 and EN 1.4542, is a precipitation-hardening stainless steel whose properties depend strongly on solution treatment, aging condition and section size. SAKYMETAL supplies bar and related product forms to an agreed specification and condition.
Condition-specific properties
Condition A and age-hardened conditions such as H900, H1025, H1075 and H1150 are not interchangeable.

A grade-only order is incomplete because strength, ductility, toughness and corrosion response vary with condition. State Condition A or the required H condition and acceptance properties.

Section size affects response
Heat-treatment response and certified properties can depend on section size and sampling location. Do not transfer a published typical value to an unverified product size.

What is the difference between Condition A and H900?
Condition A is solution-treated material. H900 is a precipitation-aged condition with a different strength, hardness, toughness and corrosion balance. The drawing or purchase specification should state the required condition.
