SAKYMETAL supplies stainless steel rectangular hollow sections to an agreed grade, outside dimensions, wall thickness, length, finish and inspection standard. Welded mechanical tubing and seamless special-shape options are quoted according to the required application and governing specification.
Grade matched to service
304/304L and 316/316L are reviewed against corrosion, fabrication, cleaning and appearance requirements.
Dimensional control
Outside dimensions, wall thickness, corner radius, straightness and cut length are defined on the order.
Mechanical or structural use
The governing standard and design basis must be stated because mechanical tubing and structural tubing have different requirements.

ASTM A554/A554M
Covers welded stainless mechanical tubing supplied in round, square, rectangular or special shapes. The order should state grade, dimensions, condition, finish and any supplementary requirements.
ASTM A511/A511M
Covers seamless stainless mechanical tubing and allows round, square, rectangular or special shapes for mechanical applications.
Structural projects
Where the member carries structural load, provide the project specification, design code and applicable structural-tubing standard. Mechanical-tubing compliance alone should not be treated as structural design approval.

Is rectangular hollow section the same as rectangular tube?
The terms are often used interchangeably in enquiries, but the intended use and governing standard matter. State whether the product is for mechanical, architectural or load-bearing structural service.
Can the surface be polished?
Brushed or polished finishes may be available depending on grade, size, weld condition and manufacturing route. Define the finish sample or roughness requirement in the order.
What dimensions should an RFQ include?
Provide outside width, outside height, wall thickness, corner-radius expectation, length, quantity, tolerance, grade, finish and applicable standard.
