Buttweld and Pressure Piping Components

Stainless fittings supplied by grade, class, dimensions and inspection requirement

SAKYMETAL supplies stainless steel elbows, tees, reducers, caps, stub ends and related piping fittings. A complete enquiry identifies material grade, fitting type, nominal size, schedule or wall, dimensional standard, seamless or welded class, testing and certificate requirements.

Common grades

WP304, WP304L, WP316, WP316L and other grades are reviewed against the required ASTM/ASME specification.

Fitting types

Elbows, tees, reducers, caps, stub ends and project-specific components.

Class and inspection

Seamless or welded construction, NDE extent, heat treatment and documentation are defined by the order.

Standards and Selection Notes

ASTM A403/A403M

Covers wrought stainless steel fittings for pressure-piping applications and uses grade/class designations that identify material and construction requirements.

ASME B16.9 dimensions

Factory-made wrought buttwelding fittings are commonly ordered to ASME B16.9 dimensional requirements. State size, schedule, fitting type and dimensional standard.

Low-pressure fittings are a different scope

As-welded fittings for low-pressure, low-to-moderate-temperature corrosive service may fall under ASTM A774/A774M. Do not substitute one fitting specification for another without design approval.

Typical Applications

  • Chemical and process piping
  • Food, beverage and hygienic utility systems
  • Water-treatment and desalination systems
  • Energy and general industrial piping
  • Marine and coastal piping assemblies

Frequently Asked Questions

What information is needed for a fitting quotation?

Provide grade, specification, class, fitting type, nominal size, schedule or wall, dimensional standard, quantity, NDE, certificate level and delivery destination.

What is the difference between seamless and welded fitting classes?

The class identifies the manufacturing route and examination requirements within the governing specification. State the required class rather than accepting an unspecified construction.

Can fittings be supplied with PMI?

PMI and other inspection requirements can be included when specified before quotation. Define the method, sampling rate, acceptance basis and required report.
