Mechanical Properties

Typical minimum room-temperature requirements for annealed UNS N10276 seamless pipe and tube under ASTM B622 are shown below. Requirements can differ for welded products, cold-worked conditions or another governing standard.

Condition Tensile Strength 0.2% Yield Strength Elongation
Solution annealed, typical ASTM B622 requirement 690 MPa (100 ksi) min. 283 MPa (41 ksi) min. 40% min.

Typical reference: density is approximately 8.89 g/cm³ at room temperature. These values are not design allowables; actual certified results shall be confirmed by the MTC.

Why C276 Is Selected

  • High resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in many chloride and halide environments.
  • Useful resistance to both oxidizing and non-oxidizing acids across many chemical-processing duties.
  • Strong resistance to chloride-related stress corrosion cracking compared with many austenitic stainless steels.
  • Low carbon and silicon help limit detrimental weld-zone precipitation when proper welding procedures are used.
  • Can be formed and welded using suitable nickel-alloy procedures and matching filler metals.

Material selection must still consider chemical concentration, temperature, contaminants, aeration, flow conditions and fabrication history. A corrosion test or end-user material review is recommended for critical service.

Inspection, Testing and Documentation

Item Purpose Availability Order Requirement

Fabrication Notes

Welding

GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG and SMAW processes can be used with suitable procedures and matching nickel-alloy filler metal. Joint cleanliness, shielding and interpass control are important. Welding procedure qualification remains the fabricator’s responsibility.

Heat Treatment

C276 wrought products are normally supplied solution annealed. A typical reference annealing temperature is approximately 1121°C (2050°F), followed by rapid cooling. The final cycle is subject to the applicable specification, product dimensions and approved manufacturing procedure.

Cutting and End Preparation

Cut-to-length, deburring, beveling and drawing-based end preparation can be discussed during quotation. Protect finished surfaces from iron contamination and identify cut pieces to preserve heat traceability.

Applications

  • Chemical-process piping, reactors, columns and transfer lines
  • Heat-exchanger, condenser and evaporator tubing
  • Pickling, acid-handling and chlorination equipment
  • Flue-gas desulfurization and pollution-control systems
  • Pulp and paper process equipment
  • Sour-gas and offshore components when the governing design specification permits

Packaging

Tube ends can be capped and bundles protected with moisture-resistant wrapping, separators and export-suitable outer packing according to tube size, surface condition and transport route. Special marking, bundle weight limits and wooden-case requirements should be stated on the RFQ.

Why Choose SAKY METAL?

SAKY METAL prepares C276 tube quotations around the buyer’s governing standard, dimensions, quantity, documentation and delivery requirements. Seamless or welded supply, cut lengths, end preparation and additional inspection can be evaluated when clearly specified.

For the most accurate offer, send the complete item description rather than only “C276 tube.” This allows the material form, tolerances, testing and certification scope to be confirmed before production.

FAQ

Is C276 the same material as UNS N10276 and 2.4819?

They are commonly used designations for the C276 alloy family. The purchase order must still state the governing product specification because equivalent grade names alone do not define dimensions, tolerances, testing or certification.

Should I order seamless C276 tube or welded C276 tube?

Choose according to the design code, pressure, size, corrosion duty and project specification. ASTM B622 is commonly used for seamless pipe and tube, ASTM B619 for welded pipe, and ASTM B626 for welded tube. The engineer or end user should approve the product form.

What details are required for a firm quotation?

Provide the standard, seamless or welded form, OD or NPS, wall thickness or schedule, length, quantity, condition, surface, end preparation, test requirements, certificate type and delivery destination.

Can SAKY METAL supply an EN 10204 3.1 certificate?

EN 10204 3.1 documentation is available when specified and agreed in the order. Actual heat chemistry and mechanical values shall be confirmed by the supplied MTC.

Can PMI or third-party inspection be arranged?

PMI and third-party inspection are available when specified. State the method, coverage, acceptance criteria, inspection agency and witness points at the RFQ stage so cost and schedule can be included.

Can C276 tube be cut or prepared to a drawing?

Cut length and end preparation can be supplied according to customer drawings when agreed. Include dimensional tolerances, end details, marking and inspection requirements with the drawing.

Is C276 tube suitable for hydrochloric acid service?

C276 is widely selected for resistance to many hydrochloric-acid environments, but suitability depends on concentration, temperature, contaminants, aeration and flow conditions. Critical service should be reviewed against current corrosion data or confirmed by testing.

How is grade traceability maintained after cutting?

Heat-number transfer and piece marking should be defined in the order. PMI can be added when specified for supplementary grade verification, but it does not replace the MTC or complete product-specification testing.
